Dr. Abdul Rahman Tolefat

Founder & Chairman

A Rahman Tolefat started his careers with Central Bank of Bahrain, after completing his management education from the prestigious DePaul University in the US and later a PhD from the renowned Durham University, UK in Islamic finance.

Over the years he held various positions in the CBB and had extensive exposure to Islamic finance and takaful. In 2008, Dr. AbdulRahman took charge as the Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Takaful in Bahrain, the global hub for Islamic Insurance of Allianz Group and in2010, was prompted as the Chairman of Allianz Takaful.

Dr. Abdulrahaman is a distinguished scholar in the field of Takaful and has participated in many international conferences. He has presented in workshops in Tokyo and London on Islamic Insurance. As a member of several committees and boards in the financial arena, he has played an instrumental role in imparting international standards to Islamic banking and Takaful. He was a member of the CBB Committee that developed the Insurance Rulebook in coordination with PriceWaterHouse Cooper and a member of the working group between International Association for Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB).

 

Abdulrahman Abdulla Al-Sayed

With a Management degree from the University Of Dundee, UK, Abdul Rahman Al Sayed also started his career with the Central Bank Of Bahrain.With an illustrious career in Finance for over a decade Abdulrahman is a board member and a member of the executive committee at Bahraini Saudi Bank. He has been a memberof several committees, notably, Corporate Governance Working Group and Transparency andMarket Discipline Working Group, Supervisory Review Process Working Group and Special Issues in Capital Adequacy Working Group of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), Malaysia.

Abdul Rahman has presented papers in various conferences and seminars and published articles in different areas and subjects, mainly regulations and Basel and risk management of Islamic banks. He has been a member of a joint team between CBB and E&Y that developed the “Prudential Information & Regulatory Framework for Islamic Banks”.The framework comprises comprehensive Islamic banking regulations and provides an effective supervisory tool.

 

Robin D’Arcy Ward

Robin is an Oxford educated investment banking professional with 24 years of capital markets and corporate finance experience. He is highly experienced in the area of securitisation notably, origination, transaction structuring, negotiations with rating agencies, and the analysis and modelling of most asset classes including residential mortgages, commercial real estate, trade receivables, auto loans, consumer loans, SME loans, diversified payment rights, contract receivables and collateralised bond obligations. Robin has in-depth experience of working in the European and emerging markets. His clients include financial institutions, insurance companies and corporates and has Robin has been responsible for a number of ground-breaking and innovative firsts in the securitisation market.

With a Management degree from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA Ravi Shankar started his career in finance in Newark NJ as an investment associate. Since then Ravi Shankar has managed several large investment banking business; with emphasis on product creation to meetthe changing conditions (OECD & Emerging) for institutional portfolios and mutual funds.

He has consistently achieved top performance over many years in creating new products and managing their risk, matching, duel benchmark portfolios, emerging market funds, total return mandates,property linked investments and derivative solutions, applying new technology to enhance in-house portfolio and data management systems, incorporating state of the art financial systems to manage and control risk while enhancingclient reporting and overall service.
